Gaudi’s Barcelona
Gaudi’s Barcelona. I wonder how Barcelona would like if Gaudi never existed? Like Sharm el Sheikh, Barcelona gave me the feeling that it is built solely for tourism. Though this is not true, and the city holds a lot of history in it, but the atmosphere, the buildings, and Gaudi overwhelm the old spirit of the city. I can easily state that at least 50% of the must see and visit places in Barcelona are Gaudi’s work! I cannot say his work isn’t good; in fact, he’s a great architect, and he’s done a lot, but you can only listen to the name that much. Especially when you’re on the...

Remember how a week ago I was on my way to Alexandria for the First Real Presidential Election in Egypt? I also mentioned that Egypt has 3 scenarios, 1 is good and the other 2 are bad. Now after the first round, out of 13 candidates running for presidency, the 2 were qualified for round 2 are the worst. The only 2 that I would have never given them my vote. WHY?!! I haven’t spoken to anyone who has given them their votes, where did they get these votes from? According to statistics, in Alexandria, Hamdin Sabbahy won most votes, which is something I didn’t expect at all, given the...

I won’t comment much on this photo. Again, like last week’s photo, it is not beautiful or artistic, but it is just a reminder that the inside could be something totally different that what you paid for. Hinting at the Egyptian Presidential Elections. Enough said. The photo was taken in Siwa Oasis, by Christian Reistad. This is a real pack of biscuits that he bought thinking it is chocolate biscuits, but that is what it turned out to be when opened! PS this post is being posted at 5 pm Egy Timing, before the results are...

I woke up at 1 am, put on my clothes and got ready, then went outside to meet our guide where he said he would meet us, in the tent in the harden outside the rooms. I was half sleepy, half ready to go climb Mount Sinai, and half excited! (If you can have 3 halves ) I have talked earlier to the hotel’s receptionist and he told me I must have a guide with me, and then gave me the choice to climb through the traditional route or through the real footsteps of Moses through Wadi Al-Arba’in, passing some landmarks that are standing from his time. Given that I was going to pay for the...

Monday, June 21st, 2012. Big day! Today, I’m on a bus from Sharm el Sheikh going back to Alexandria. 9 hours bus ride – if there isn’t any hassle on the way, which might happen a lot this week. Which is why I chose today specifically to go back to Alexandria; so if anything comes up, I still have enough time to make it Alexandria before the 23rd. Wednesday, June 23rd, 2012. Bigger day! It will be one of the biggest days in all Egyptian history. As I read somewhere – can’t specifically remember where I read this – Egyptians are choosing their ruler for the first time since...
