Usually, I never say anything about my travel plans until I am actually doing them. But this time, I am too excited not to tell! 😀
Several of my dreams came true this year, from getting a master’s degree, to hiking in Cinque Terre, to going way North. This New Year, I am exceeding my limits of “way North” and going even further North!
Last year, I said goodbye to 2013 and welcomed 2014 in Glasgow. My trip started a few days before that, with 2 days in Edinburgh and 1 day in Aberdeen (that’s the most North I’ve been, yet!). It was a great journey with a Norwegian friend of mine whom I met a few years back in Spain, and I did things I didn’t expect to do. But more details about that trip in another post. This post is to announce where I’ll say goodbye to 2014, and the plan to the last few days of this weird yet not-so-bad year!
So, without further useless blabbing, here is the plan: I booked a trip through Scotland (again – I do love Scotland that much!) with Haggis Adventures. This time, though, I am going to the highlands!
So I start on the 27th of December from Edinburgh, head North and West, all the way to Inverness, and explore that, the Isle of Skye, Glencoe, and God knows what else…I am bad at planning, but easy to satisfy, so whatever they’ll show me I’ll be impressed and happy about!
Now that’s only 3 days of the whole week. After that, we’ll be heading back to Edinburgh, and I’ll be getting drunk with thousands upon thousands of people celebrating the Scottish New Year, Hogmanay! Now if you don’t know what Hogmanay is, google it, go to the photos, and tell me this is not awesome!
I can’t believe that last year I didn’t even know about the existence of the Hogmanay, and instead, headed to Glasgow and spent New Year’s Eve there (it was still an amazing night that I’ll never forget…Well the bits and pieces that I still remember from it anyway).
Now this trip was slightly out of my budget. I am still saving for it. I need to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Giulia from Travelreportage.com for being as excited as me about me going to the Highlands (she’s been there before and knows I’ll like it). She supported me not only by convincing me to go, but completing the required money for the trip for me, and being so patient with me sending it back to her (which I still am…I’m bad at saving money too).
What I just noticed is that while writing this post, I have less than 3 weeks for the trip, and I am still paying off my debt, and haven’t saved any pocket money! So I need all the luck and the fingers crossing you can send towards me! It won’t be fun starving in the snow of the highlands!!
Where are you spending this New Year? I hope you have some plans that you’re excited about just like I am!!
